Wonderflex’s thermoplastic contains a polyester open weave scrim and an adhesive. The thermoplastic composite is activated by heat and becomes moldable, sculptable, and pliable, when heat is applied to it.
How Wonderflex is made:
Extrusion: The synthetic polymer is melted and extruded into a thin, uniform sheet.
Reinforcement: A layer of polyester open-weave scrim adds strength, reinforcement, and stability.
Surface Treatment: One side is left smooth for painting or coating, while the scrim side provides structural integrity.
Cooling and Finishing: The sheet is cooled to a rigid state, ready for use.
Activation: Heat softens the polymer and activates a built-in adhesive, allowing it to bond to itself or other materials like fabric, wood, foam, and aluminum mesh.
