Toy Sharp Edge Tester

Application :-
Determine that metal or glass edges on toys and other articles intended for use
by children under 8 years of age, and such edges exposed in normal use or as a
result of reasonably for seeable damage or abuse of such toys and articles,
present a potential risk of injury by laceration or avulsion.
Test Method :-
Glass toys or components, accessible edge of toys, packaging shell of toys driving
mechanism, hard materials covering face (like protective eyeglasses, space helmet
or helmet shield), toys of affordable children’ weight(toys car, ice skates, etc.)

Technical details

To check whether playthings’ accessible edges are dangerous, use the Sharp Edge Tester. An accessible edge is being checked while a mandrel with self-adhesive PTFE tape connected to it is turned once 360 degrees. The edge of the tape is designated as a dangerously sharp edge if it is sliced in half or extends beyond that length (about 13 mm). This requirement applies both before and after use and abuse testing for toys designed for children under the age of eight.
